Time for a new release?

I just noted that the last release, 1.7, was published in 2021 and that some things have changed since then. In particular, the vFlash commands are now supported in the GDB RSP module, which makes simavr usable with GDB clients that have been compiled with the expat library.

It seems plausible, but I am not sure what is involved. Add a tag, build and test (at least unit tests and all examples) in all environments would seem the minimum. I do not have remotely modern Mac or Windows, but would consider a PR.

Hm, I could run it on my computers. But I guess, it would be much smoother and sustainable to use GitHub runners, i.e., write workflow files.
