This is a proposal to switch the nvidia package to the open kernel modules, starting post 580 version, given that 580 is the last driver version to support pre-turing cards.
The original template can be forked to a package called nvidia580, and keep using the proprietary kernel module to support pre-turing cards.
Testers welcome.
Additionally, worth mentioning that this template uses nvidia's precompiled open kernel module, we could alternatively build it ourselves, @abenson please give your take.
